A little wedding preview for Sarah and Gavin! We started off at one of my new favorite photo locations of all time – The Bag Lady on the corner of Maitland & Pall Mall in London. From there it was off to Museum London for the ceremony and reception.

Taking over U of G with Jess & Craig

Disclaimer – we didn’t really take it over campus. It’s just, well, if you want to find a vacant university campus – go there at 9am on a Saturday. That said, you’ll probably encounter random haggard looking individuals, blasting Yelle – A Cause Des Garçons from their Acura’s (seriously, click that link. You will not be disappointed. Well, click it after you scroll through the photos.)

We had an awesome time snapping some shots as we roamed around a few city blocks worth of green space and historic buildings – even found a (mostly clean) abandon chair! (See below)

I’m so excited for the wedding, you two are so much fun!

Ancaster Old Mill | Winter Wedding | Cathy and Mike

Cathy and Mike were married at the Old Mill in Ancaster Ontario this past Saturday. It was the perfect winter wedding day – snow in the air, snow on the ground (which has been rare in Ontario this winter) and general warmth. We headed to the Osler House in Dundas for a few great photos, and everything else happened at the Old Mill – Ceremony in the Governors Room, cocktails in the Millview Room, and the reception in the Fallsview Room.

Hockley Valley Orangeville Wedding | Alicja & Ryan | +bridal!

It seems like forever ago that Alicja and Ryan first booked me for their wedding! It’s been quite the ride – an engagement shoot, photos with their little (killer) dogs, their wedding, and now a bridal shoot! It’s always a pleasure hanging out with them (camera in hand).

Last Sunday I headed out with them for a little pre-sunset bridal shoot – Kate Ostner did hair and makeup, and my buddy Mark did some filming. I edited together this quick little behind the scenes video to show how we got some of the shots. We shot everything within a few blocks in Waterloo. Columbia Lake, the old La-Z-Boy factory, and back to Columbia Lake for the final minutes of the sunset.

The first few shots (and video) are from the bridal shoot, and the photos shortly after that are from their beautiful October wedding at Hockley Valley in Orangeville.

Parking Garage Trash the Dress

Alright, so the dress didn’t really get trashed – that wasn’t really the intention. The idea was just to make some fun images, in a really grungy dark location.

Grand Canyon, Arizona | Wedding Dress Shoot

What can I say about the Grand Canyon? It’s pretty big – and like everyone else says, it’s impossible to capture how it really feels to be there in a still picture.
I’m always up for doing some portfolio work, and what better location than the Grand Canyon in Arizona?

We started the morning early in Las Vegas at 6:00am…well, kinda. When you’re still brain is still on Eastern Time, 6am PST (9 EST) isn’t so hard to do. Even after a late night in Vegas.

From there we did the rent-a-car scramble. We didn’t reserve one, because we had not really planned on going to the Grand Canyon until about 2pm the day before. Between the hours of 8 – 9am I walked to rent a car agencies in: Treasure Island, Mirage, Venetian and the Palazzo. At this point I decided to check online. Apparently the entire Las Vegas area (including the airport) was fresh out of cars. Eventually we headed off the strip, and found a car 10 miles away. It was a pickup truck, but came with unlimited miles. It’ll do.

We left at 10:30am and got there some time 5 or 6 hours later – we decided to head for the larger south rim instead of the (smaller) slice on the west end that’s only a few hours out of Vegas. We got to drive across the Hoover Dam, and experience all kinds of different exciting climates. Well, as exciting as it is to see trees after spending 3 hours driving through dirt and little plant..bush things.

Anyways, this has been by far the coolest location I’ve had a chance to shoot at – here are a few photos from the day:

The view out of our 33rd story room overlooking the strip at Treasure Island – Vegas Tip: If you’d like a better room, pull out a $20 as you ask about any possible free upgrades. They’ll usually find you something.

I’m off to Washington DC/Virginia and Philadelphia this week for some corporate work. Hopefully I have a few spare minutes to check out the White House and other sights!

Hessenland Country Inn Wedding | Kate & Colin

Kate and Colin were married at Hassenland Country Inn up in Zurich, along Lake Huron. I took a shot of the groomsman that really reminded me of an Oceans 12 movie poster…so I attached it here:

Centre in The Square Wedding | Chris and Heather

What can I say about Chris and Heather’s wedding? It was an amazing day (no rain!) with amazing photo locations (Random fields/Ethel’s!), and by far the nicest reception venue I’ve come across to date (Centre in The Square!)
Chris is a great photographer from up in Ottawa, and I was honored to photograph his wedding. I had some photographic help from Ms. Christine Reid, who was there as a second shooter. She did an amazing job!

La Hacienda Sarria was my favorite Kitchener/Waterloo venue until I came across this gem. I stood near the doors as the first wave of people entered, and watched as everyone’s jaw dropped. Some people seemed so overwhelmed with emotion over how beautiful everything looked. It was amazing.

The Pines, Cambridge Wedding | Jola & Marcel

The rain held off for Jola and Marcel’s wedding in Cambridge / Kitchener – which was rare for this summer! I can count the number of rain-free Saturdays on one hand actually. The sky started to drip every now and then, but overall the day way perfect.

We went to the Sunlife Manulife building at the top edge of Kitchener for a few photos – followed by a nice industrial type building. I love that my couples are open to stuff like this!
